Getting out of Nairobi and spending a few days by the lake was genuinely refreshing. The change of pace made all the difference. The kids put their screens away without being asked and spent their time fishing, swimming, and exploring. We were outdoors most of the day and properly present with each other in a way that’s hard to achieve in the city.

We’d heard it was a romantic escape where it would be quiet, surrounded by tea fields, with just enough adventure to keep things interesting. It completely lived up to it and then some. Mornings by the lake were calm and unhurried, and the adrenaline of racing down the two slides added a playful energy we didn’t expect.
Between swimming, walking through the tea fields, and sitting by the water in the evenings, it felt like we had real space to just be together. The setting made everything feel simple and meaningful.
It turned out to be the perfect place to ask one of the biggest questions of my life……and she said yes!
